I remember a guy called Fillipo, where did he go? Did he become Hesh?

No, Hesh has always been Hesh.

Fillipo abandoned ship when Todd Stock was chucked overboard during The Great Ivory Ban Debate of Much Rudeness and Contention sometime last year, and took his toots with him.

Hope they didn't use fish, that stuff does not do well in high RH...:) I think it was a type of CA and after all CA was invented to close wounds on battle fields. Just glad that I was out when they used the accelerator..... :D

Don't know much about battle ground stitches but I do know they still use it for wounds in Antarctica, to darn cold for sutures.

I liked Filippo. Wish he would return.

I've been using CA all winter for torn fingernails, and use it for those nasty bloodless cuts that just flap about. :D Hmmm, I wonder if it works better than a styptic pencil for shaving cuts? laughing6-hehe

I use HHG for my cuts. It just sounds better! The only difficulty is keeping my body temperature below 90 degrees F until it heels. I wonder if a higher gram strength would gel at a higher temp. . .

My wife gets amused when I use CA to glue the cold-weather splits on my fingers. She says that without superglue I might just bleed to death :)

It was a personality conflict. If we were a high school faculty, Todd would've been the football and wrestling coach who could call out a kid across the field and wouldn't accept any flack. Traits you could call a dividing line.

But I have more contributions in my notes from Todd and Filippo than I can count and still communicate with Todd somewhat regularly. They're great guys. Can't fault Filippo for following the guy who's shop he partners up in.

Yes, a big loss to the forum - learned quite a bit from both, but especially Todd,

Just to set the record straight on the discovery of CA:

"Super glue, Krazy glue, Eastman 910 and similar glues are all a special type of glue called cyanoacrylates. Cyanoacrylates were invented in 1942 by Dr. Harry Coover of Kodak Laboratories during experiments to make a special extra-clear plastic suitable for gun sights. He found they weren't suitable for that purpose, so he set the formula aside. Six years later he pulled it out of the drawer thinking it might be useful as a new plastic for airplane canopies. Wrong again--but he did find that cyanoacrylates would glue together many materials with incredible strength and quick action, including two very expensive prisms when he tried to test the ocular qualities of the substance. Seeing possibilities for a new adhesive, Kodak developed "Eastman #910" (later "Eastman 910") a few years later as the first true "super glue."

ermmm...yeah...

took quite a few of those last year after my right thumb got into a fight with a table saw...the saw won duh

funny thing was when I was in the emergency room and had vitals taken my pulse was 78 and normal blood pressure...now if I try and do a drug trial I fail as the heart rate limit is 90 and I can freak in a second with worry and shoot it to 120 in a breeze...go figure...here I am laying down on a gurney looking at a thumb with a cut extensor tendon calm as can be...sheesh...

no pain..nada...the most painful part of the whole episode was when the doctor pulled out the 2" stainless steel pin locking my thumb in place 6 weeks after the secondary surgery...that hurt like all hell...

out of work for 3 1/2 months (thank God for workers comp.) and the whole episode induced carpal tunnel syndrome on me and am just getting over that...sigh...

anyway, I guess I missed the info about any injury to Hesh...hope you're doing OK...

Mike! Seasoned vet with a table saw wound. I better start paying more attention. Sorry to hear that bud. Carpal Tunnel is no fun but can be somewhat liveable. Hopefully for you too.

More importantly, I really would have liked to get something going here just because there were so many good openings. It's been sooooooooo long. I'm pining for some OLF drama. Eat Drink

I really miss Todd and Phillip and even Padma from the daily comments--forum just hasn't been the same or as fun. I certainly understand where line had to have been drawn and was crossed. I wish there were a way we could extend our hands in friendship, acknowledge that we have differences of opinions on matters other than luthier related specifically and get back to what we love. Just my offer of peace and hopefully welcoming back to the fold. Miss you guys and the old banter.

Howard

Granted, the drama has no place in this forum. Sharing ways to build does and these fellas have a wealth of experience that they were willing to provide. I've learned that part of being an adult is finding a way to recognize differences, accept that everyone has an opinion, but try to find common ground. I'd guess most of us have had a problem with someone in our lives, but working through it takes another level of forgiveness.

In taking care of patients for a couple decades or so I've also learned that everyone is unique and has buttons that push them. We all do. If we keep that in mind when posting comments, and try to remain neutral but focused on our goals I think the forum will remain a wonderful source for many.

On another light, I'm really glad to see all the progress pics and new builds that have been shown the last few days. Rather inspiring the talent this group has and displays--keep it up!!

Drama: the specific mode of fiction represented in performance.... hum.... sounds like me every time I build a guitar.
