This guitar was picked up last week by its happy new owner who recently send these photos. Good picture of him in the reflection in the back closeup.

Small Jumbo based on the martin M/J outline with more rounded lower bout.
Cocobolo back and sides
Bear Claw Sitka top
Ebony binding, fingerboard and peg head overlay
Mahogany neck with curly maple and black veneer laminated center
Finish Mohawk Instrument lacquer.

That's a beautiful guitar, Fred. Your cocobolo selection and finish are really stunning. I dig the shape, too. I'm not crazy about bear claw figure in spruce, but that's a general statement and a personal preference--it's not aimed at your guitar. I think it's a real beauty!

Thanks for the kind comments, this was a fun build other than the Bearclaw top finishing which needed sanding back and respray. The lacquer sunk into the softer areas between the harder claw marks and left an uneven surface.

Fred

Hey Fred, that is a sweet guitar. Great use of the sap wood on the back and I like the rounded shape. Your work just keeps getting better!

I'm not usually a big fan of "sap-wood"…. But that is nothing short of stunning!!!!!
A lovely, well executed instrument all round.

sure would like to hear a sound clip or two.

Congratulations!!

Mike
