I'm going back to a fan-fret baritone project that was put on hold in late 2013. At that time, I had used Fretfind2D ( http://www.ekips.org/tools/guitar/fretfind2d/ ) and been successful in generating the plan I was wanting -- now of course I want to change it.

My problem is specifying the string spacing at the nut and bridge to generate the plan. The "help" note says that this is measured between the first and last strings PERPENDICULAR to the axis of the neck, and indeed my old plans seem to conform to that. But now I find that Fretfind2d is measuring string spacing at an angle, between the intersection points of the strings with the nut (or saddle). Can anyone confirm that this is what's happening? It is a change, isn't it?

I've written to the webmaster at the site, but no response as yet. I know there are several Fretfind aficionados on OLF, so perhaps one can fill me in on the changes that are messing me up.

Epilogue: the Fretfind2D author got back to me and convinced me nothing substantial had changed that would cause what I was seeing. It finally dawned on me that maybe the printer was scaling the pdf, rather than giving full size. Sure enough, reset to no scaling and diagram now gives proper measurements. Uncanny how the scaling was exactly right for angled string spacing to appear correct. Sheesh!

We now take you back to your regular programming.
