Sorry everyone. It's been a while since I was here.

That vise is one I made from maple scraps. It doesn't have nearly the strength of the cast iron version I based it on. It works OK. It can't suspend a guitar in the air like the SM version.

I just unbent and rebent a set of Gonçalo Alves sides. They were too thick and wouldn't take enough of a set. They were about .105" which seemed like enough when I was thicknessing but I may have been deceived because they were still a little warm and pliable right out of the sander.

Anyway, I straightened them, brought them down to .085" and rebending couldn't have gone smoother.

I did learn that I need to let the stock sit for a bit after spritzing in the future. I spritzed and wrapped both sides at the same time but can only bend one at a time. I ended up bending the second one the next morning. Better than butter. It was almost "overbent".
