I just came across this from an Italian maker of high quality rasps:

http://www.corradishop.com/index.php?main_page=page&id=26

Hadn't heard of them before, but they get a mention, along with a nice discussion of rasps, here:

https://www.canadianwoodworking.com/half-round-cabinet-rasps

And in case you have never seen it done, here is a short video of hand-cut rasps being made:

I love my hand cut rasps but the Corradi Gold looks good because of the price point.

Unfortunately there are no North American distributors.

I just ordered Liogier's #49 and #50 rasps. I found my boss's Aurious to be a tad too wide and his US-made #49 and #50 to be of perfect size, but too likely to chatter and rougher cutting than the hand-stitched Aurious, so went for the best of both with Liogier's hand-stitched versions of the classic Nicholson #49/#50. Delivered via Fedex international, 160 Euro. With the Euro at about $1.13 or so and stagnant over the last year, a pretty good deal.

Very cool, Woodie. I love my Liogier's. Took between three to four weeks I believe, and they were specifically made just for me. I don't remember which numbers I have specifically, but they were what Noel recommended specifically. One in cabinet size, the other a model maker's size.

Well I have to thank Mr. Minch for his recommendations on a range of tools, including rasps - I have been looking at the links he posted and I might have to purchase one of the round Corradis for slotted headstock and tight curve work.

I'd be interested in your review of the modeller's rasp, Mr. Orr - it is on my short list of tools, but did not make it through the budget process this month. A smaller rasp would fill a niche that the Grobet Vulcanite file currently fills in my boss's shop, but I find the Vulcanite a bother to hold, and prefer single-ended tools that don't damage my hands or require gloves to be worn for use.
