Nice stuff! Like the old timey peghead and man, that's some big bubbly maple! Big Leaf, no doubt...?
Keep up the good work.

Yes Haans, Big leaf maple.

The peg head shape is something I have used for many years -sort of a mix of Stromberg and Gibson.

Really like the pickup cover and tailpiece. And that maple certainly has some WOW to it.

Lovely piece of work there Brad.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Maple and Koa look great, nice shape on the body, like the way the 2 black neck laminates show at the top of the peghead. Well done.

That looks really great, Brad. I'm impressed by anyone making an archtop.

Thanks, James.

The funny thing is that I find certain aspects of making an Archtop easier than making a Flattop.

Ever build a non-cutaway acoustic L5 type, Brad?
One of the things I never got around to...

The only thing more spectacular than the wood is the fit and finish. Nicely done!
