Is it just me or does anyone else think Stew Mac has reached spam level with their e-mails? Seems like every other day I get something telling about a product more than how to.

Yeah, it looks like they send something out every 2-3 days.

They're getting pretty bad. Kind of like one of those cheap online computer places.

2-3 per week. Lots of rebranded tools that can be bought elsewhere at lower cost.

I agree it's gone up a bit. I like when the send video tips and that sort of thing but once a week is enough. They need to consolidate.

Yes. It makes me wonder how they're doing as a business under new owners.

Hopefully they will maintain their superb customer service under new ownership! It would be a shame to see Stewmac go downhill.

I haven't noticed any difference....

When I complain about email, it's all the REAL CRAP I never signed up for, and I've never heard of.

I rarely check home email. It's become useless and over run by zombies. FB messaging and texting are all I really care about.

I have not noticed any difference at all in customer service either. It's about as good as it gets and more if you ask me but they have increased the ad's. I would not call it spam since I opted in for it but still...

If you go to the Stewmac website and sign in to your account, you can adjust your email preferences. There is a "StewMac Product News" category that most of the volume comes from. You can uncheck that and still get the "Tips" emails. Would probably cut down on the volume.

Unfotunately stew mac is not alone.
There are many sellers I have purchased from and would be interested in the occasional email, sale, promotion or news but I have one that sometimes sends 3-4 in a day.
Sometimes I want to scream!

I can tolerate the spam to a certain degree but it's the paper mags that drive me nuts. I don't know what Stew Mac still sends paper mags out anymore. When I get mine I look at the cover then toss it in the bin. That's no where near as bad as some of them though. My wive bought a blouse from some company ten years ago and they send her junk in the mail every month. I bought something for her birthday from the same company and now I get one every month to the same address... Drives me nuts.

I can't remember the name of this company but I once bought literally a $1.50 switch for a particular piece of equipment I was working on and now am on thier mailing list for life. It's some high end company that deals in studio recording gear and thier catelog is literally like 3/4 inch thick it must cost them a fortune to produce with full color ads and so on. Goes right in the bin every time.

As noted above, adjusting the email preferences in your Stew-Mac account will help. Also, I've noticed that their online ordering process has a "Sign me up for email!" box on the final checkout page that is automatically set to "Yes." I always turn that off before finalizing an order.

Their excellent customer service seems to be undiminished. I found that a screw to a tuner button on one of my guitars was missing. Checked locally and couldn't find anything that fit. Called Stew-Mac yesterday to see how/where I might get one. The rep put me on hold for a minute, then came back and said, "We've got spares here. I'll get a replacement in the mail today." That's doing the right thing and I applaud their efforts.

That's what is keeping the USPS in business now. Who mails a letter anymore?

Stew Mac has substantially increased the number of items discounted for "volume buyers". That is a good thing. The notifications for added items is via email so I am fine getting them.

Still no where near competitive for a licensed business....I can get all the parts and and stuff, basically anything but their tools, from other vendors and sell those bits for the same price stew mac charges anyone and still make a few bucks. If you ask me they really shot themselves in the foot when they went form giving legit re-sellers decent markup and went with the buy 10 and save 20% or whatever.

But yes, I have had ti unsubscribe from their e-mail list, every 3 days or so for a sale flyer is way too much junk in my inbox!
