I bought Kent Everett's video. It seems to be the one most folks use. I think you can get it digitally on Robbie Obriens site now too.

Installing an arm rest on an existing guitar is a whole different animal than incorporating it in a new build.

Hopefully someone will come along that has done it. Other than that the Everett video will give you some insight but it will not guide you to conclusion.

Oh right, didn't catch the finished guitar part. Well, if you want to add one in your next build now you can! :)

OP needs to clarify whether he is talking about an arm rest (which is what he stated) or whether he actually means an arm bevel, which is what appears to be assumed by respondents.

I think he's aiming more towards a John Pearce style arm rest, an aftermarket addition.

You don't say what type of guitar, but here's a pr1mer on existing armrests to fit am already built guitar.
Hope it gives you some ideas what you may be dealing with.

A possibilty mught be to make an armrest shaped to the guitar's lower bout, with magnets fitted inside the guitar (inside a bracing strut?), and magnets in matching positions on the armrest, cushioning the contact points with felt. (I may have seen this somewhere)

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Probably best to follow the makers instructions, the John Pearse is attached to the surface by means of a double-sided adhesive strip, supplied by the makers and they offer to supply any support required.
