Curious.
What would be your typical measurements for 6th/1st action at the 12th fret when setting an Acoustic for double-handed tapping?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

FWIW, I did a complete refret on a Martin (Evo 43080 wire) out the door yesterday at 1.4/1.2 mm (just shy of 4/64th and 3/64ths) with Elixir nanoweb 47-10's.
Relief was a bit more than my usual at around 0.012/0.008 bass/treble.
Although it was intended for an owner who likes a low action, I noticed it "tapped" much better than my own beaters, so I just wondered about what others had found worked for them.

Good to know. 4&3 is pretty low! I bet it was easy peasy to play. :D
