Okay, just making that up... looks nice though.

I don't know what it is, but there's something about that large Oneida setup that remind me of the contraption that Doc Brown builds in the second Back to the Future movie to make a single ice cube. I just imagine someone holding a cup under that huge cyclone, all Hell breaks loose, and then you hear a tiny "plink."

It must be a regional thing, because larger sized spiral pipe and fittings were nowhere to be found around here. I would have had to order online, and then the shipping costs would have eaten me up. I can get 6 inch sewer & drain locally, and at wholesale. Much cheaper.

Don,
I spent 3 or 4 minutes looking for sources in your area, Charleston, WV. I found this company that appears to be a potential suplier. Here's their web site which shows pictures of their spiral wound duct in your city. http://www.ferguson.com/branch/charleston-wv-hvac

I don't know where you looked for HCAC supplies, but the big box stores are not the place to buy them. The commerical fabricating shops are the way to go. In Houston I called HVAC speciality suppliers who sell to contractors and I asked them for the names of their suppliers and fabricators. This lead me to a couple of fabricators that typically sell to supply houses and commerical building contractors/installers.

I got metal gates, fittings, a custom transition, etc. from them too and everything was MUCH cheaper than what Oneida sells the stuff for. Plus there was no shipping.

I appreciate the effort, Ed, but you're about a year too late. My shop's been set up for 6 inch sewer & drain for a while now, including a number of Clearvue's 6 inch blast gates and some tools I was able to mod for 6 inch intakes. I probably could have tried harder to find everything (pipe, corners, wyes, etc.) in larger diameter, heavy gauge metal, but since Bill Pentz's website embraces sewer & drain, and I could get mine wholesale, I figured it would work out OK, and it has. Thanks, though.
