I got a nice piece of almost quartered yellow cedar today 35 to 40 rings to the inch. Has anyone used it for a uke

Like all tonewood jut be sure its quarter sawn and as little or no runout as possible. makes a nice top.

I forgot about the runout. I was just going to start resawing away but should I actually try to split the 1 x 5 first?

Plane the edge of the board and have a look. Often you can see if there is runout or not.

Yellow cedar makes a great sounding uke top,I/ve built 1 tenor with it , also will try POC one of the OLF sponsors sells it, and it is also a good soundboard material

Built a 530 scale Requinto entirely out of Yellow Cedar a few years ago. Built it for my grand-daughters. It was very easy to work with and sounded great. You'll love it..
