Suzuki 12 string, early 1970s, headstock and heel broken by an errant ball at a rugby match.
Repaired by a friend of her father at the time.
Nut and bolt in the headstock, nut under the truss rod cover, bolt head under filler, heel break at glue line secured by large wood screw down through the truss rod (!) and a smidgin of glue that was actually holding the crack apart, causing a ski ramp at the body joint.
Neck was a dowelled joint.
The repairer told her not to put 12 strings on it, just use it as a 6 string, about 20 years ago...

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Here's an Aria that someone gave me about 20 years ago. It would need a new top and neck but I've kept it around because I think the box is BRW. Surprisingly the fix has held and the guitar still has string tension on it idunno

That's a really pretty back set.

It would take a lot of work to save it but I’ll probably do it. Just too nice to throw away.

Look forward to seeing how your repair comes out.
