I didn't see an Introductions room so I though I'd just drop a line in here to say Hello.

I made a handful of instruments - electric and acoustic - in my callow youth, I'm returning to it with a better, shop more resources and more passion. I'm still part-time, very part time, have been building some electrics but now my interest and focus is on acoustic guitars. I'll appreciate the feedback and experience from seasoned folks here as I dig back in.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.
