Thanks for the heads.
Shipping label is on the way from Whirlpool and a check for $200 will be sent when they get the unit back!

Wondering the same thing.... I bought a little 21 pint unit this summer; brand name "Classic". None of the numbers come close to matching anything on the recall listings, but it is made in China and from the looks of things, most likely at the same factory as all the rest, here.

Works like a charm, and is really sweet and quiet, so I'd actually hate to have to swap it, but would be crushed by a fire, so... What to do? I can call the Gree number, but will they be able to tell me if they did, in fact, make this thing?

Call the number I posted above. Here it is again: If you want to check yours call the Gree recall hotline direct at 1-866-853-2802. They'll tell you if it is one of the recall units. Have access to the labels on the machine or photograph them - the numbers they need may not match the list that is online, mine didn't but was one of those that were recalled. To clarify, the model number on mine was listed on the recall website but my date code looked nothing like what was online.

I just cut the plug off mine and mailed it back today. I don't know what they are offering as compensation, but I guess I'll have to buy a more expensive one this time.

I had the same problem - call Gree at the number I referenced above and they can help you.

All you will need when you call is the model #, really. When I called, they really only wanted brand and Model. Mine was not on the re-call list, but I'm upgrading to a Santa Fe for my small shop for many reasons besides. Anyone want a 50 pt, Kenmore.....cheap?

You probably won't need the date code, but on many appliances, it's imprinted in the plastic plug.

Mine was on the list and they wanted the date code. It was a SoleusAir unit. The date code was on the product label.

I think they said 6 to 8 weeks. I went ahead and got the Frigidaire unit I linked to above and so far it is working very well.
